This year’s Earth Day is on 22 April, and Colorado Public Lands Day and Clean-up / Green-up is on May 16th.

Rather than having a single day event, we want to encourage our members to participate in the cleanup on their own time, during the three-week period between 4/22 and 5/16. Here is how the process will work:

First of all, volunteers will need to register as a CPW volunteer and fill out the sign-up form: http://bit.ly/AHRACleanupGreenup. At the bottom of the page you will see “Register as an individual” — that’s the link you’ll need to click. The “Volunteer agreement” is the main reason for filling out this form, as it includes a liability waiver.

Next, volunteers should pick the clean-up area by filling out this online form: http://bit.ly/AHRACleanupGreenupSites.

The above spreadsheet should help us make sure that all Clean-up areas get covered. If you have an area you like to clean up and it is missing from the spreadsheet, please contact Jennifer Crawford by phone at 719-539-7289 or e-mail at Jennifer.R.Crawford@state.co.us.

Once you’ve registered as a volunteer and picked out a Clean-up location, pick up a plastic bag from AHRA. The bags will be available outside of the AHRA main entrance underneath the AHRA map display at 307 W. Sackett Ave. in Salida.

Please be very careful when cleaning your chosen location!

Maintain social distancing, work individually or limit groups to family members only, and be safe!

We don’t want any additional burden on emergency help or search & rescue services.

If you find any fun or interesting items, please take a photo and post on Instagram with the #arksansascleanup2020 hashtag. If you don’t have instagram, feel free to email them to editor@collegiatePeaksTU.org and we’ll post them for you.

Dispose of the garbage bags at AHRA. That will let the total weight be counted towards our cleanup activities, which helps with future grant applications. If you have Clean-up related trash between April 22nd and May 8th please call AHRA Monday – Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm at 719-539-7289 to arrange dropping off trash bag(s) in AHRA’s dumpster. All trash collected from May 9th through the 16th needs to be placed in a roll-off dumpster located in the parking lot in front of the AHRA Visitor Center on May 16th.

We absolutely want to keep everyone safe!

Observe social distancing, no contact with other volunteers, groups or AHRA employees.
