On Saturday, September 16th, the Chapter is holding our fourth annual “Friendraiser” and member meeting at the Salida Steam Plant Ballroom, 220 West Sackett Avenue, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30 p.m.).
The three previous years we hosted “Movie Night.” This year will be an evening with Landon Mayer including a special presentation “Trout tips: Secrets and tactics for selective trout.” The evening will also include fly-tying demonstrations, book signing and special items give-away. Free popcorn, cookies, lemonade and ice tea will be offered again this year along with a CASH bar. Tickets will be available at the door with a $10 suggested donation.
Landon Mayer’s angling success is fueled by an addiction to pursuing large trout with small flies and lightweight fly-fishing equipment. Mayer enthusiastically teaches and demonstrates his techniques and on-river knowledge to fellow anglers and has developed innovative strategies for sighting, hooking and landing selective trout. Mayer is author of several books including “101 Trout Tips: A Guide’s Secrets, Tactics and Techniques,” “Colorado’s Best Fly Fishing,” “Sight Fishing for Trout” and “How to Catch the Biggest Trout of Your Life,” as well as two DVDs.
Landon’s passion for fly-fishing has allowed him to make several noteworthy contributions to the sport through travels throughout the country visiting fly-fishing related organizations and through teaching on guided trips, fly-fishing classes and demonstrations. As an ambassador in the fly-fishing industry, Mayer represents several lines, among them Simms, Winston and Scientific Angler and is a royalty fly designer for Umpqua Feather Merchants.
Don’t miss this very special event and bring a friend.
